Soaring Resilience
My concept for this artwork merges the steadfast strength of the bison with the uplifting symbolism of wings, representing resilience, growth, and the ability to rise above life’s challenges. As a symbol of endurance, the bison stands firm through adversity, embodying perseverance and unwavering stability. The painted wings contrast this grounded power, signifying transformation, possibility, and the courage to transcend limitations.
Scenes of daylight and night unfold on either side of the bison, illustrating the continuous cycle of renewal and the interconnectedness of all things. Birch trees stretch across the bison’s form, their branches intertwining and creating a pathway to the shape of a heart at its head—an emblem of love, unity, and the deep connection between past, present, and future. Rooted in the land, the bison plays a crucial role in maintaining balance, reminding us of the harmony between strength and adaptability.
By blending these elements, Soaring Resilience conveys a message of inner fortitude and transformation, while also celebrating the ties that bind us to nature, to each other and the enduring power of love. An inspiring message of both grounded power and limitless potential.

Our team members are parents, aunts and uncles, and friends who’ve seen firsthand how Toba Centre brings light back into a child’s life in our own backyard. We know what it’s like to worry, to hope, to want more for our own. Backing this initiative means rolling up our sleeves for families who need a champion—and believing that every child deserves safety, healing, and a chance to dream again. This isn’t just a fundraiser; it’s a promise that we’re all in.”

Cows run away from the storm while the buffalo charges toward it – and gets through it quicker. Whenever I’m confronted with a tough challenge, I do not prolong the torment, I become the buffalo.
