Toba Centre Launches “Herding Hope” Comfort Kit Drive to Support Children and Families in Crisiss for Expressions of Interest

WINNIPEG, MB – Toba Centre for Children & Youth is calling on Manitobans to joins its Herding Hope Comfort Kit Drive, a community-wide initiative providing essential support to families navigating the trauma of abuse and violence. The event will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Toba Centre, 710 Assiniboine Park Drive.

The Drive invites local residents, schools, workplaces, and community groups to contribute new, unwrapped items—from clothing and hygiene essentials to sensory toys and gift cards—which will be assembled into care packages for children and caregivers who often arrive at Toba Centre with little more than the clothes they are wearing. Why this matters:

Toba Centre is Manitoba’s only child advocacy centre, where experienced professionals from law enforcement, child protection, medical, and mental health sectors work collaboratively in a child-centred space to reduce trauma and support healing for young survivors.

“At Toba Centre, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported and seen,” said Christy Dzikowicz, CEO of Toba Centre for Children & Youth. “Our Comfort Kit Drive is more than a donation event, it’s a powerful expression of community compassion. When families arrive at our doorstep in their moment of greatest need, these kits provide physical essentials, and more importantly, comfort and hope.”
